New School Board Appointee

Meet Bridget Wiedeman, newly-appointed member of Haverford Township School Board

Bridget Wiedeman works as a Senior Director with Reinvestment Fund, a nonprofit community development financial institution based in Philadelphia that finances institutions and businesses to revitalize low-income neighborhoods. She has Finance and Economics degrees from Boston College, and an MA from Princeton in Public Affairs and Urban & Regional Planning. As she explained in her presentation to the members of the school board, her job at Reinvestment Fund allows her to couple her training in finance with her interest in social justice.  As a member of the Haverford Township School Board, Wiedeman will contribute her years of experience helping organizations access capital for facility projects by aligning both program goals and budget realities.

Wiedeman’s two children are now students at Haverford Middle School and Haverford High School. She expressed enthusiasm about her children’s past experiences at Chestnutwold, where she was a co-leader of the “Roots and Shoots” afterschool program in which students embarked on “student-driven” engagement with “real-world” environmental issues. As a school board member, in addition to contributing to financial and facility matters, she hopes to encourage all schools in the district to develop programs that allow students to work together to make positive contributions in the world around them.
