Sheryl Forste-Grupp for Ward 2 Haverford Commissioner

In 2025, Sheryl (Sherry) Forste-Grupp is seeking re-election to serve as the 2nd Ward Commissioner in Haverford Township.

In the last four years, I have been a listener, advocate, and leader working to keep our Township moving forward. I have been working to improve, rebuild, and connect Township services and programs that benefit the people in Ward 2 and the entire Township.

Pennsy Trail Extension

Concerned neighbors contacted me about this project. I held neighborhood listening sessions as well as meetings with township staff. I listened to everyone’s concerns and we worked together to find solutions. If you walk down Pennsy Trail today to the end by Vernon Road, you will see the results — beautiful plantings screening the residents’ backyards so they maintain their privacy.

Haverford Township Free Library

Very soon, the fully renovated Library will open its doors to the community. At long last – we will have the 21st-century library that our community deserves. It will be a place where people can find another place to learn, and refresh. It will become a new space to meet new friends and build community bonds.

The Haverford Board of Commissioners ensured that our library is being built under the Responsible Contractor Ordinance which passed with my leadership. The library project is on budget and on schedule — which means we are not wasting township money.

Lights at McDonald Field for Hilltop Baseball/ Softball/ Challenger League

In my first year as Commissioner, Hilltop folks reached out to me to talk about field equity because they were the only league in the Township that did not have their own dedicated lit baseball field. I advocated strongly that Hilltop deserved its own baseball field for night games. This year, Hilltop will be playing under the lights at the Jack McDonald Memorial Field thanks to Parks and Recreation and the other Township Commissioners — especially Mike McCollum, Conor Quinn, and Gerry Hart.

Improvements

Local government has the most direct impact on our lives. Throughout my four years as your commissioner, I have worked to improve our parks and trails, support our Police, Fire, and EMS services, and make sure our Public Works Department has the equipment and staff it needs. For example, we established the user-friendly Citizen Reporter so residents can go to the township website to report a problem and can track the Township’s work to address the issue.

Communication is important!

I send out regular emails about township meetings, community events, and services. It is also important to hear from the residents of Ward 2. I pay close attention to any issues, concerns, or questions that residents have, and I respond to them.

I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the Ward 2 Commissioner. I ask you for your support as we move into this election year. Together, we can work to make Haverford Township even better for everyone!
